Here and There

Last week I went somewhere and stood on the transparent section of the floor to do some spying:

Good thing I didn't wear a skirt or a dress, huh?
For some strange reason I thought these shoes didn't fit well, so they sat in my closet for a while. Then I pulled them out, tried them on, and realized... hey, they fit okay...? Somehow my feet do weird stuff like this... are they changing shape, and that's why some shoes suddenly fit well and others so poorly? Mysterious.

Transforming feet aside, I'm happy to say that my website has gone through a large layout transformation, and I am very hopeful that all the kinks have been worked out. If you want to check it out, you can take a look over at www.rachelfujii.com  :]  Let me know if there's any weird errors, okay? I'd like to think the organization and the flow is smoother and easier to navigate than before. There is, of course, new work too.

Here's a screenshot of how it currently looks:

Laluzapalooza

Today is the opening for La Luz de Jesus' annual group show that has been renamed "LALUZAPALOOZA" this year. It's an honor to have been included again this year, especially when I read that there were over 9,000 submissions to sort through. Yikes!

I'm excited that they took two of my pieces from my triptych series, "Bind" and "Balance."

I'm also really happy to say that dear friend Sunny Gu has been accepted into the show as well. Thank you to everyone at La Luz :]
Here's a link to the online roster of artists in the group show, but I hope you can stop by in the gallery space and see the amazing pieces in person. Pieces like the sculptures are best experienced for yourself.

Opening: Friday, March 2; 8pm - 11pm
(show runs from March 2 - April 1)

Crime and Punishment

Happy 2012! It is now Year of the Dragon.

I've been trying to keep myself busy and make this year an even better one than last year. My website went on a diet and now I think it looks sleeker and more streamlined than before! Take a look for yourself :] www.rachelfujii.com

While I was sorting through my work, I realized I never posted about this book cover I made a while ago.
I never had to read Crime and Punishment while I was in school, so I picked it up
out of curiosity and read it myself. The story is essentially about a man who murders two people with an axe, then begins a descent into madness. I thought the story picked up around the middle and I had a hard time putting it down after that until the very end.
